Thomas Tuchel says he does not believe everything Antonio Conte says, remembering the Italian claiming that there was 'not a comparison' between Chelsea and Tottenham earlier this year.

The two teams met four times concluding season, twice in the Premier League and twice in the League Loving cup, with the Blues winning all four contests.

Afterward the second League Cup defeat, Conte claimed there was such a huge gap between the sides that they could not be compared and doubted that it was a gulf that could be bridged any fourth dimension soon.

The Italian said in Jan: 'At that place's an important gap, an important difference, there's a big job to practise to recall the situation,

'We need time, and then much time, to retrieve the situation. You lot cannot practise this in only six months or one year. They were much stronger than us. I do not see a solution in this transfer window.

'If you compare the two teams there is not a comparison. I know the situation, it is very clear in this moment there is an important gap. If we think we are close [to Chelsea] we are not in the right way.'

Tuchel is not so sure that at that place was a massive difference between the teams and he is certain there is non ane now, merely felt Conte says things for bear on more than for accurateness.

'I never felt a huge gap in preparing these matches,' Tuchel told a press conference on Friday.

'They were close matches and they are a very competitive and talented team, I know very well what we invested and to what level we played to beat them 4 times and not concede a goal against this quality of a team and an emotional game in London that means so much for everybody. This was a huge effort and big consecutive performances from united states of america.

'I don't believe everything that Antonio Conte says before games and afterwards games, I adore him a lot and I believe strongly that every team he trains competes for everything no thing which team it is or what guild information technology is, that'due south what he proves right at present.'

After the disruption of the government sanctions on Chelsea followed by a change in ownership, Tuchel reckons Tottenham have had an 'opposite' few months to them as Spurs have returned to the Champions League and invested impressively in the transfer market.

'They had maybe the opposite last even months from usa, given the state of affairs, everything was clear they had something clear to fight for and put all the free energy into making Champions League football,' said Tuchel. 'Their targets were clear, they took advantage of this situation and had a very aggressive transfer menses.

'A straight forward and splendid transfer period to strengthen their squad in quality and depth.

'That's why information technology's ane of the toughest opponents because that'due south what is ever with Antonio Conte's teams.'
